Maruti panning towards East
Maruti Suzuki India is in merriment, the kind of response its new entrant Ertiga MPV is exceptional. Maruti now has its eyes set to make double-digit sales growth in the north eastern markets in 2012-13 FY. MSI’s Chief General Manager( Parts and Accessories) Mr. Amitava Roy stated that reports predict that the car market will grow by at least 10% this fiscal and Maruti is expecting a similar growth in sales. The overall sales in the financial year 2011 has been 36,000 units of the various models in the north eastern states. Maruti’s star seller Alto has contributed to over 40 percent of the total sales.

The company is looking forward to extend its dealership network in the north-east expanse along with the rest of the country. At present Maruti has 19 retail outlets and 12e-outlets in the North East bay and Maruti is expecting Ertiga to do well in Assam and the north east area. Maruti has entered the multi utility vehicle segment with Ertiga with an introductory price of Rs.5.89 lakh(ex-showroom New Delhi). Maruti Ertiga is rolled out in both fuel options and will go against the likes of Toyota’s Innova and M&M’s Xylo.
