Maruti gets legal notice for defective airbags
When after a specific incident it was found out that the airbag failed to open in a Maruti Swift Dzire. The Indian Company, Maruti Suzuki was served with a legal notice. It happened with, Major Rahul Soni. Last year on December 8 his Swift ZDi car this was equipped with two airbags failed to open after collision. This special feature, made these cars Rs.1.5 lakh more costly.

As per Major Soni this accident took place on the National Highway 8, where a bus suddenly stopped on the middle of the road. In car there was Soni's younger brother, his friend and the driver. The driver applied the brake but could stop the car from hitting the bus. Surana - his brother's friend and the driver were badly injured. On behalf of the Company an email was sent to IANS on April 5 th as response to the queries. The email said that maybe the collision took place under the conditions which won’t let the airbags to deploy. They clarified that on the delivery of the new vehicle, the owner is fetched with manual and service booklet.

Soni complained to the IANS that he purposely paid Rs.!.5 lakh extra for safety reasons to get this model but it hardly helped him. He also told IANS that after the first legal notice was delivered, the Company simply said that if the airbags doesn't deploy the Company takes no charge of it. He told just a day before he sent his car for servicing where he told the workers that the car has to be prepared for long distance. He was assured that everything is fine. But next day the incident took place. He said he's done with the legal formalities and he'll be filing a case in the consumer court in some days.
