Made-in-India Maruti Suzuki Fronx Crash Tested By Japan NCAP, Gets A 4 Star Safety Rating
The safety suite of Japan-spec Fronx features a level-2 ADAS, which is not offered with the India-spec model
The Made-In-India Maruti Suzuki Fronx was launched in Japan in October 2024 with a couple of additions over the one we get here including a level-2 advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) and an all-wheel-drive (AWD) setup. This version of the Fronx has been crash-tested by Japan NCAP, where it has scored a 4-star safety rating.

The Maruti Fronx was also tested for pedestrian safety, where it managed to get a Level 3/5 for pedestrian head protection and a full Level 5 for pedestrian leg protection.

The Fronx secured a perfect Level 5 rating for the Autonomous Emergency braking test, where it was tested for collision prevention against moving pedestrian dummies. It also scored full in the lane departure prevention system.

However, it got a Level 3 rating in the autonomous emergency braking system (intersection) test, and Level 4 score for high-performance headlights test and pedal misapplication prevention test.

The Japan-spec Maruti Fronx gets a level-2 ADAS in addition to all the safety features offered with the India-spec model which includes 6 airbags, an electronic stability program (ESP), a hill-hold assist, a 360-degree camera and ISOFIX child seat anchorages.

The Maruti Fronx is priced between Rs 7.54 lakh and Rs 13.04 lakh (ex-showroom, pan-India) and it rivals the Toyota Urban Cruiser Taisor while being a crossover alternative to sub-4m SUVs such as Maruti Brezza, Tata Nexon, Hyundai Venue, Kia Sonet, Skoda Kylaq and also the Kia Syros.
