Joint Press Statement from the Employee's Federation of India- Condemns Maruti Incident
EFI has issued a joint press statement on behalf Employers Federation of India, Confederation of Indian Industry, Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry, Associated Chambers of Commerce and Industry of India, National Human Resource Development Network, All India Organization of Employers, Standing Conference of Public Enterprises and National Institute of Personnel Management.
This statement was issued against the heart-breaking and tragic killing of Awanish Kumar Dev which took place at the Maruti India factory, Manesar, stating that all the above mentioned industry bodies severely condemn the shocking incident. The note also expressed condolences to the families of the affected and has also given assurance that the investigations will be conducted quickly and in a fair manner where the guilty will be brought under the book of law.
Sharad Patil, the Secretary General of EFI stated that the organization condemns any form of violence and further added that there is an urgent need for creating a Charter on Employee Relations, co-creating it through an eco-system comprising Employers, Employees, Trade Unions, Government and Civil Society to ensure a violence free workplace. Maruti is known for their efficient and low maintenance cars that are simple yet very up to date in terms of features. Some of the most popular cars from the lot are Maruti Swift, Maruti Ertiga, Maruti Ritz, Maruti Dzire etc. The new 800cc model that was to replace Maruti Alto might face a delay along with a few other models due to the incident that happened at the MSIL factory last week.
