Is Ertiga eating into Innova sales?

Toyota Innova has been a segment-leader for the last few years and nothing could have shaken it the Japanese MUV. The Nissan Evalia and Mahindra Xylo came in, but it couldn’t eat into the Innova share, despite the hike in the cost of the Innova in the recent times.

But it seems that the Maruti Suzuki Ertiga is getting some share of Innova’s market. The range topper Ertiga diesel comes for a price similar to a lower-spec Innova. So, there are some people who are shifting to the Ertiga, especially those who have kids sitting at the rear. The sales of Innova were averaging 6400 units a month, and in the last two months it has dropped to 5800. The drop isn’t drastic as the market is also expanding, and at the same time the sales of Ertiga have jumped by a similar number in the last two months. So, there is a possibility that people are preferring the compact Ertiga over the Innova.
