Hyundai India to Reveal a Sub-4 meter SUV coming February

Hyundai Tucson is back with a bang in India after a brief sabbatical. Hyundai has sensed the growing surge in the SUV segment in the country, so the new Tucson SUV is an outcome of that. Though the car doesn’t have any direct competitor in the country, but soon it could face rivalry from Volkswagen Tiguan in the same segment. The Korean automaker is known for its riposte when it comes to launching a product in the market. The carmaker is already aware of the growing admiration for the compact SUVs in India. It’s rapport with the car enthusiasts is well established, and when Maruti is about to release its Vitara Brezza, it’s the right time for the company to get a move on. According to a report, Hyundai India will be entering the sub-4 meter SUV space very soon. The carmaker will be launching a brand new product that will fill the gap between Elite i20 Active and Hyundai Creta.

Not only this, the automaker by the end of 2016, will take its SUV/Crossover line-up to a whole new level, one of the largest family of such cars in the Indian market. Talking about the upcoming under-4 meter compact SUV, it will be a front-wheel drive car sharing the same platform used by its siblings Elite i20, i20 Active and Creta. Having said that, the engine options should be the same tried and tested 1.4 liter and 1.6 liter motors. When launched, it will take on Ford EcoSport, Mahindra TUV300 and the upcoming Maruti Vitara Brezza.

Going by this minuscule piece of information, the starting price of the upcoming compact SUV from Hyundai would fall in between INR 7 lac-7.5 lac in the market. As per the launch, Hyundai will be unveiling the new compact SUV in February, most probably at the upcoming Indian Auto Expo 2016 or may be at a later stage. As Hyundai Tucson will be showcased at the auto show, we might see the new unknown compact SUV sharing the podium with the elder sibling.
