The Guangdong plant of Honda Motors supplies car locks and key sets for the vehicles of this Japanese auto giant. The company has a series of factories in this region which is known as 'workshop of the world'. The drastic conditions for Chinese blue collar workers came to the fore after a series of suicide incidents took place among Chinese assembly line workers at Foxconn.

According to a local Chinese official, the company had agreed on increasing the pay package to 100 yuan ($15) a month from existing 1,700 yuan a month, however, the workers were demanding a monthly salary of 2,000 yuan.
