Ford using fully recycled Nylon from carpets as car components
Ford, the US auto giant is using its first kind of technology to make interior components and engine parts in its vehicles. The company using recycles nylon from carpets called EcoLon. Last year more than 4.1 million pounds of recycled carpet material used in Ford cars, the company reported.
The company reported that this 100 per cent recycled nylon has been used successfully in Ford's popular vehicles like Ford Fusion, Ford Mustang and Ford F-150. And continue will be used in its 3.0-liter Duratec and 5.0-liter engines. This scraped carped collected by Wellman Engineering Resins which converts nylon to EcoLon. Meanwhile Dana Holding Corporation is another carpeted scarper provider. The company is using this recycled nylon as cylinder head covers.
Roy Ford, supervisor of Ford's Component Engineering and Design Department said that presently we are using this carpet scrape but it is expected that the use of recycled nylon resin to expand in upcoming years. And Ford will continue with this which now will be used in Ford's 3.0-liter Duratec and 5.0-liter engines.
Meanwhile now Ford is also planing to use another type of plastic scrape in its vehicle to produce more non-metal and bio based materials. The Ford will use soy foam for seat cushions and headliners, made plastic bins out of wheat straw, recycled plastic into various components and turned soda bottles into car interior fabrics because the will be cheaper than metal components.
Ford always used some different technology to make its vehicle's components and they provide guaranty of reliability and well performance. The company has also a good market share in Indian auto market. It includes superb performer vehicles and launching new new vehicles in domestic market. It's plans to spread wing across the country and has recently launched a classic variant of its popular sedan Ford Fiesta which might be 2011 Ford Fiesta on April 14 this year. Now it is also expecting that this kind of components would be used India producing Ford cars.
