BMW X1 to be launched in India soon
The long awaited BMW X1 model is now all set to enter in Indian market as the French car maker BMW is planning to launch it in India very soon. Besides BMW X1 the company is also planning to launch some new 5-Series models in the the country. Talking about the launch time of the upcoming car models, Peter Kronschnabl, BMW India’s president, told reporters at a press conference in Munich on Wednesday, that the completely knocked down (CKD) units of new 5-Series model will be available for Indian customers by July 2010 and the model will hit the Indian roads by the end of this year. The new 5-Series models were introduced in the end of year 2009 in European market.

BMW managed to sell 3,697 units of its vehicles in India in year 2009, accounted for an increase of 38 percent as against the same period of last year. On the other hand the company sold 1.28 million vehicles,
globally, in year 2009, registered increase of 10.4% as compared to the same period of previous year. Market share of the
company was increased to 41% in 2009, as against only 9% three years back.
Mr Kronschnabl added that, “Though we haven’t yet started bookings, we have got a phenomenal response from the customer survey in India for both the models. Besides this BMW is also planning to enter in the used car segment by April 2010. The company is expecting that the used car business will contribute by more than 30% to its business in India.
