BMW 6-Series Gran Coupe Launched at Rs. 86.40 Lakh

After a day filled with waiting BMW India has finally launched their first four-door coupe, the all new BMW 6-series 640d Gran coupe, which was first unveiled at the 2012 Geneva Motor Show. In a pleasantly surprising move, Philipp von Sahr, president of BMW Group addressed those present in Hindi and Marathi which was received very well. He also stated that the BMW 1-Series hatchbacks and 7-Series will be launched by 2013 and will be locally produced which means that the pricing for these models will be extremely competitive. The 4-door coupe has been launched at the relatively inexpensive price of Rs. 86.40 lakh (Ex-showroom India). The coupe measures a total of 1392 mm in height, 1894 mm in width, 5007 mm in length and sits on a more than ample wheelbase of 2969mm.

While the details are still pending revealing, we know that the BMW 640d Gran Coupe houses the 3.0-litre 6-cylinder, inline engine, twin-turbo that will generate 313bhp and 630Nm of peak torque and will come mated to an 8-speed automatic transmission. The top speed of the 640d Gran Coupe is 250kmph (limited). From what BMW have revealed so far, deliveries for the 640d will start later in this very month with the cars coming in shades of black, white, silver, blue, blue, grey and red.

The interiors come adorned with the usual high-end festivities one expects in a BMW; these include Bi-xenon headlights, active cruise control, night vision camera, parking assistance, heads-up display, stop-go system, etc. While these are the standard features in the 640d Gran Coupe, BMW is also offering the model in 3 optional packages namely; M Sport, BMW Individual and the Luxury package.
