Audi S3 Cabriolet revealed ahead of its debut at Geneva Show

German luxury carmaker Audi has revealed the S3 Cabriolet ahead of its unveiling at the 2014 Geneva International Motor Show. The open-top four-seater has lightweight construction and a high performance chassis; the Audi S3 Cabriolet is set to make its debut in Germany this year.

Under the hood, the Audi S3 Cabriolet gets the 2.0-litre TFSI engine that churns out a maximum power output of 300bhp and 380Nm of top torque. It also comes with quattro permanent all-wheel drive- which offers an optimal traction and driving dynamics in all road conditions. Engine is mated to a six-speed S tronic transmission.

The new Audi S3 Cabriolet measures 4.43 metres in length, 1.79 metres in width and 1.39 meters in height. With its large wheelbase of 2.60 meters, it offers an impressive cabin space for both front and rear passengers. The open-top four-seater has a soft top with an electro-hydraulic drive. Magnesium, aluminum and high-strength steel keep its weight low. A high insulating foam layer is given to the roof, which reduces the noise level in the interior. The top is available in three colors. It opens or closes in 18 seconds, even while driving at speeds up to 50km/h. An active rollover system protects passengers in the event of an accident.

The front facade of the S3 Cabriolet features singleframe grille, surrounded by a chrome frame, sports a platinum-gray insert and double cross-struts with an aluminum look. The air intakes are framed by powerful edges and filled with double ribs and honeycomb inserts. Its side profile has aluminum strips on the windshield frame and beltline, aluminum-look exterior mirror housings and edge sill trims define the shades. At the rear, the taillights comes equipped with LEDs as standard, the bootlid has a spoiler edge, and the bumper has been redesigned. An aluminum-look bar and four vertical ribs give shape to the platinum-gray diffuser, which frames the four tailpipes typical of Audi S models.

Inside the cabin, the Audi S3 Cabriolet gets the all black shade. There is room for two adults in the rear, and the easy entry feature makes getting in easier. It offers an impressive luggage carrying capacity of 285 litres which can be expanded by folding down the rear seat backs; its volume is 245-litres when the top is down.
