  • While in our real-world test, we felt both the SUVs were well equipped with features such as auto-LED headlamps, height-adjustable driver seats, keyless entry with push-start/stop, wireless charger with cooling tech, powered driver seats, ventilated seats and rear and centre armrests for comfort, multiple drive modes for enhancing the way the vehicle performs, connected car tech features, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay and dual-zone climate control for added comfort.

  • With the outgoing Scorpio N, we felt some important features were missing, but with the facelift, Mahindra has incorporated all those, like the reverse camera now being replaced with a 540-degree camera, which now makes parking and manoeuvring easier; a larger 12.3-inch infotainment has been added, replacing the smaller 8-inch screen; the instrument cluster has been made into a fully digital unit, and now we get a Type-C charger in the front as well.

  • However, the XUV 7XO has an edge in some aspects, like a co-passenger entertainment screen, paddle shifters, a cooled glove box, head-up display (HUD), ambient lighting and a powered passenger seat.

  • Both SUVs are well equipped in terms of safety with Level-2 ADAS, front and rear parking sensors, and a 6-airbag setup for the Scorpio and a 7-airbag setup for the XUV 7XO.

  • The XUV 7XO comes with frequency-dependent dampers (FDD), an advanced suspension system, making the ride feel smooth, but the Scorpio N is offered with the conventional suspension system.

  • The Scorpio N Facelift has not undergone any crash test as of now, but the ongoing Scorpio N has secured a 5-star safety rating in the Global NCAP, and we expect that to be carried on to the facelift as well.

  • The same goes for the XUV 7XO; the XUV 700 was tested by the Global NCAP and has attained the glory of a 5-star crash test rating, and is carried on as both SUVs carry the same underpinnings.

CarDekho Says…

In our experience with the Scorpio N, we were satisfied with how the SUV performed, but had thoughts on what all could be improved and what new features it could get. With the facelift, Mahindra has added all those features to make the Scorpio N competition-ready with its rivals. The XUV 7XO, on the other hand, is the brand’s flagship offering with a plush ride and premium cabin on offer.

If you are someone looking for a rugged, ready-to-do-anything SUV, then the Scorpio N Facelift is the one to go for. With its four-wheel drive capability and rugged nature, it can be chosen for the road less travelled. If you are looking for a more comfortable, feature-rich SUV with nice ride quality and ideal for a family trip with a lot of luggage on board, then the Mahindra XUV 7XO is the one to go for.

The decision should depend on your use case!
