We recently saw the first set of teasers come out for the facelifted Renault Kiger ahead of its launch on August 24. The sub-4m SUV has been on sale in India since 2021 and is now poised to receive its first major update. Here’s everything you can expect from the updated Kiger:
A New Design

If the recently facelifted Triber is anything to go by, we could see Renault follow a similar path to give some subtle nips and tucks to the Kiger’s fascia. Expect it to come with a fresh design for the grille, tweaked front and rear bumpers, a new set of alloy wheels, and updated lighting setups. Based on the teasers, it’s also confirmed that the Renault SUV will be offered in a new lime green paint option.
Cabin Changes

While the dashboard design of the Kiger is expected to remain largely unchanged, Renault could freshen things up inside with the provision of a new dual-tone interior theme. The facelifted Kiger might also come with some new trim bits and a revised seat upholstery.
Features And Safety

Not much is expected to change in terms of its equipment kit, and it should continue with some key amenities from the current-spec model such as the 8-inch touchscreen infotainment unit, the 7-inch full-digital driver’s display, wireless phone charger, and auto climate control with rear AC vents. Its safety suite could pack six airbags as standard, a rear parking camera with sensors, hill-start assist, and a tyre pressure monitoring system (TPMS).

Powertrain Options

We don’t expect Renault to tinker with the engine and gearbox choices of the Kiger SUV. The facelifted model should continue to come with the same set of engines as the present version, technical details of which are as follows:
| Engine |
1-litre Naturally Aspirated Petrol |
1-litre Turbo-petrol |
| Power |
72 PS |
100 PS |
| Torque |
96 Nm |
160 Nm (MT), 152 Nm (CVT) |
| Transmission |
5-speed MT, 5-speed AMT* |
5-speed MT, CVT^ |
*AMT - Automated manual transmission
^CVT - Continuously variable transmission
It is also expected to carry on with the optional CNG kit with the naturally aspirated setup as seen on the current-spec Kiger. That said, the CNG kit option is only available with the 5-speed manual gearbox.
Expected Price And Rivals

The new Renault Kiger is expected to have a starting price of Rs 6.20 lakh (ex-showroom). It will rekindle its rivalry with the likes of the Nissan Magnite, Maruti Brezza, Tata Nexon, Skoda Kylaq, Hyundai Exter, and Tata Punch.
