The Carens Clavis will be on sale simultaneously alongside the Carens and both the MPVs differ a lot in terms of design and features they offer

The Kia Carens Clavis has been officially unveiled and bookings will open on May 9. It gets notable design changes over the Carens MPV it’s based on and also packs in more premium features this time around. Prices of the Kia Carens Clavis are set to be announced on May 23. Here’s a closer 360-degree look at the design of the new Kia MPV.

Front

Up front, the Kia Carens Clavis draws some inspiration from the globally available Kia EV5. It gets distinctive triangular triple-pod LED headlights. It is accentuated by inverted L-shaped LED DRLs that give it an aggressive look. The grille is closed-off, while the bumper features a contrasting black section with a faux silver skid plate for a rugged touch.

Side

The Carens Clavis features the same silhouette as the existing Carens. It features black body cladding that extends over the wheel arches and includes a silver insert. It also gets body-coloured outside rearview mirrors (ORVMs), black roof rails, and pull-type door handles. The Clavis rides on larger, newly designed dual-tone 17-inch alloy wheels.

Rear

The rear of the Carens Clavis sports a new look. It gets connected LED tail lights joined by an illuminated light bar. The blacked-out rear bumper gets paired with a chunky silver skid plate.

Interior

Inside, the Carens Clavis gets a cabin with a whole new look. It sports a dual-tone navy blue and beige theme while retaining the familiar three-row seating arrangement from the standard Carens. In the second row, you get to choose between captain seats with the six-seater layout and bench seats with the seven-seater version.

The layered dashboard is all-new, highlighted by a two-spoke steering wheel and 12.3-inch floating dual screens for infotainment and instrument cluster, as seen in the Syros. You get a handful of controls below the AC vents, which can switch between operating the media system and climate control at the push of a button.

The black centre console gets contrastive silver accents and houses a wireless phone charger, cupholders, and the gear selector lever. A notable addition is the foldable trays integrated into the backs of the front seats, adding to the cabin's convenience.

Features Safety

The Kia Carens Clavis comes packed with features, carrying over some from the standard Carens, and several new additions such as a 12.3-inch digital driver’s display, a 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system, a panoramic sunroof, 64-colour ambient lighting, ventilated front seats with 4-way powered adjustments for the driver and 9-speaker Bose sound system.

For safety, the Clavis gets Level-2 advanced driver assistance system (ADAS). Apart from these, it also has the essentials like six airbags (standard), all four wheels disc brakes, an electronic parking brake with auto hold, front and rear parking sensors, ISOFIX mounts for child seats and a 360-degree camera.

The Carens Clavis is now a more premium alternative to the Maruti Ertiga, Maruti XL6, and Toyota Rumion.

It can also be considered a more affordable alternative to models such as the Toyota Innova Crysta, Toyota Innova Hycross and Maruti Invicto.
