The Kia Carens Clavis EV has been launched at Rs 17.99 lakh (ex-showroom), making it the brand’s first mass-market electric vehicle in India. It is offered in three variants: HTK Plus, HTX and HTX Plus, and comes with two battery options, delivering a claimed range of up to 490 km. The Clavis EV is available only in a 7-seater configuration. Bookings will open on July 22. Here’s a closer look at the MPV through images:

Front

The front of the Kia Carens Clavis EV has a clean and modern design, very similar to its ICE version. However, it gets a new LED light bar joining the familiar L-shaped DRLs around the 3-pod headlamps placed in a triangular housing. The Kia logo sits on the bonnet and the charging port is neatly integrated at the centre. The lower part of the bumper gets some black and silver detailing with a chunky cladding around it for a rugged appearance.

Side

The side profile of the Carens Clavis EV looks clean and familiar to its ICE version as well. The wheels, however, are newly designed 17-inch rims with aero-styled alloys for better aerodynamic efficiency. You can find silver roof rails and pull-type door handles. There’s also black cladding along the lower edge and a silver insert near the side sill, which adds a bit of contrast.

Colour options include six monotone shades: Ivory Silver Matte, Glacier White Pearl, Pewter Olive, Aurora Black Pearl, Imperial Blue, and Gravity Grey.

Rear

The rear of the Kia Carens Clavis EV has a connected LED tail light bar that runs across the width, with the same taillights as the Carens Clavis ICE. The Kia logo sits just below the light bar, and the ‘Carens Clavis EV’ badge is placed on the left side of the tailgate. The rear bumper is chunky, with a blacked-out middle section and silver inserts that match the front and sides, adding a bit of contrast.

Interior

The interior of the Kia Carens Clavis EV feels airy and spacious, thanks to its light dual-tone Triton Navy and Beige colour scheme. The dashboard remains unchanged and has a clean layout with two connected screens, one for the touchscreen and the other for the driver display. The AC vents are slim and neatly placed, and there is an ambient lighting strip that runs across the dash.

The lower centre console is simple and practical, with a wide armrest, plenty of storage space, and easy-to-use buttons for ventilated seats and drive modes.

It is available in a single seven-seater layout. The 2nd row occupants get two headrests, a rear centre armrest and sunshades for added comfort.

Features Safety

The Kia Carens Clavis EV is equipped with features like a 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system, a 12.3-inch digital driver’s display, ventilated front seats with power adjustment for the driver side, a panoramic sunroof, auto AC with rear vents, ambient lighting, wireless phone charger, and an 8-speaker Bose sound system. You also get EV-specific features like vehicle-to-load (V2L) charging.

The safety suite of the Carens Clavis EV includes six airbags (as standard), electronic stability control (ESC), a 360-degree camera, electronic parking brake with auto hold, level-2 advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS), as well as front and rear parking sensors.

Powertrain

The Carens Clavis EV is available with two battery packs, namely Standard Range (42 kWh) and Extended Range (51.4 kWh), the same ones found in the Hyundai Creta Electric. The detailed specifications are as follows:
