Skoda has revealed some official details about the fourth-gen Octavia ahead of its global unveil on 11 November in Prague, Czech Republic. The new Octavia has been spotted testing inside-out numerous times and is now ready for its public debut. The 2020 model is expected to be based on an updated version of the MQB platform like the new-gen Volkswagen Golf. It is likely to go on sale in Europe in early 2020, while the India launch is expected in the second half of 2020. Here are the specs of the fourth-gen Skoda Octavia:

The fourth-gen Skoda Octavia is about 19mm longer and 15mm wider than the outgoing third-gen model. The wheelbase is down by just 2mm. However, the carmaker claims that the fourth-gen model will have 78mm more rear knee room. It also packs in a slightly larger boot.

2020 Skoda Octavia

The fourth-gen Octavia was recently revealed thanks to some glitch on Skoda’s configurator. It still looks quintessentially Skoda, but the Czech carmaker has done away with the split-headlamp setup for sleek, sharp triangular units. Front fascia appears aggressive thanks to the larger grille and wide air dam on the bumper, while rear profile is still under wraps for now.

Similarly, the interior of the fourth-gen Octavia is also under wraps. However, test mules have indicated that the dashboard will offer a minimalistic design theme with a floating type touchscreen, two-spoke steering wheel and a digital instrument cluster.

While it will offer multiple engines globally, the India-spec model is expected to be powered by VW Group’s latest 1.5-litre TSI petrol and the updated 2.0-litre TDI EVO diesel, both with manual and DSG automatic options. The sportier vRS iteration of the new Octavia should feature the most recent version of the same 2.0-litre TSI petrol as before.

Stay tuned to CD for the global unveil of the fourth-gen Octavia on 11 November.
