Besides the five convenience features, the M9 also gets a frunk storage, which is also a first for the carmaker in India
MG recently revealed the detailed features and specifications of the MG M9 premium electric MPV. It will be brought to Indian soil through the completely knocked down (CKD) route and is expected to launch by the end of July 2025. That said, the M9 is equipped with a rich list of features, out of which some of them are first-ever additions for the brand in India. Here’s a detailed report on these first-time features.
Dual Sunroof
The MG M9 is set to be by far the longest and widest MPV in India. The MPV comes equipped with two sunroofs – a regular-sized sized above the front occupants and a panoramic one for the rear passengers, to complement its length. While other MG cars like the Hector, Astor, and ZS EV also get panoramic sunroofs, none have a dual-unit setup.
16-Way Powered Ottoman Rear Seats
It also gets 16-way power-adjustable Ottoman second-row seats to add to its luxury quotient. These seats have ventilation, heating, a massage function, and an extendable leg rest, offering a lounge-like experience in the middle row.
Powered Boss Mode
Not only does the M9 get powered Ottoman seats in the 2nd row, but it also gets a powered boss mode that allows second-row passengers to adjust the front passenger seat electrically using controls on the side. This is ideal for chauffeur-driven users looking for extra legroom.
Digital IRVM
The M9 also includes a digital IRVM, another very essential addition to have, considering the length of the car. It helps cast the rear view on the screen using a feed from the rear camera, making it better visible for the driver even when passengers or luggage block the rear windshield. It is the first MG car to come equipped with this feature.
13-Speaker JBL Sound System
The MG M9 features a 13-speaker JBL sound system, tuned for an immersive experience in all three rows. This makes it the MG car in India with the most speakers, overtaking the Gloster, which comes with a 12-speaker audio system.
BONUS - 55-Litre Frunk
Interestingly, the MG M9 will also be the first MG car in India with a frunk (front storage space under the bonnet). Its frunk has a 55-litre capacity.
Expected Price & Rivals
The MG M9 is expected to be priced from Rs 80 lakh (ex-showroom). Although it won’t have a direct electric rival in India, it will act as an EV alternative to models like the Toyota Vellfire and Kia Carnival.
