Honda has launched the 2018 Jazz in India. It is the first update since the third-gen Jazz was launched in India in 2015. However, it is not a major one. While hatchback remains unchanged, it gets an updated feature list. Honda has also altered the Jazz’ variant lineup. We have already done a detailed analysis of the 2018 model year Honda Jazz’ variants now let’s see how it fares against the similarly priced, segment bestseller, the Maruti Suzuki Baleno.

Verdict: For the same price, the Baleno is certainly better equipped of the two. So, we will recommend you to go for the Maruti hatchback over the Honda Jazz solely for the sheer amount of extra features over it.

Verdict: Despite being the more affordable one, the Baleno is the better equipped among the two. So, our choice remains unchanged and the Baleno continues to be our pick.

Verdict: For a premium of Rs 15,000, the Jazz is offering cruise control and paddle shifters over Baleno. However, it misses out on several important and premium features which the Baleno offers. So, the Baleno remains our pick here as it continues to offer better value for money. The introduction of cruise control with existing paddle shifters is a thoughtful addition to the Jazz in our opinion.

Verdict: As the case with the petrol version, the diesel Baleno, too, excels as far as the value for money proposition is concerned. It is better equipped than the Jazz while being more affordable. So, we will recommend you to go for the Maruti Baleno Zeta over the Jazz S.

So, the Baleno continues to be the sensible pick here also as it offers better value for money than the Jazz.
