    2016 Toyota Fortuner spied undisguised

Ahead of its official debut on the coming 17th, clear pictures of the all-new Toyota Fortuner have been snapped in Thailand. Based on Toyota’s International Multi-purpose Vehicle (IMV) platform, the new Fortuner now looks sleeker and less butch than the outgoing model.

A big chrome radiator grille and chrome strip that leads into sweptback headlamps featuring LED DRLs and HID projector lamp units dominates the front look of the SUV. The side profile flaunts a bit more muscle with new black-silver alloy wheels and turn indicators integrated ORVMs. The tail section looks a bit familiar to the current model but a good amount of chrome treatment continues on the rear too, which translates into a fresh look.

In the international markets, the new Fortuner will be offered with one petrol and two diesels engines, namely a 2.4-litre turbocharged four-cylinder inline mill that puts out 150 bhp and 343Nm and a 2.8-litre turbocharged four-cylinder motor with 177 bhp and 420 Nm of torque with an optional 450 Nm in an uprated state of tune. The petrol model will be equipped with a 2.7-litre four-pot VVT-i engine pumping out 122 bhp and 245 Nm.

As far as India is concerned, Toyota currently offers Fortuner with two engines comprising a 3.0-litre and relatively-new 2.5-litre diesel engine. So, will these two be replaced with the above mentioned two, will have to wait for any official words over that. However, the petrol motor would never be under consideration for our country, that’s for sure.
