Mahindra Vision T vs Vision SXT: Design Comparison

Mahindra showcased four new Vision SUV concepts this Independence Day, including the boxy-looking Vision T and Vision SXT. Both of these SUVs measure over 4 metres in length and are underpinned by Mahindra’s new NU IQ platform. Let’s take a look at the design differences between these two Mahindra prototypes in detail.

Front

While the Mahindra Vision T concept looks imposing and rugged, the Vision SXT carries a more rally-spec, utilitarian appeal. While the Vision T gets a six-slat split-style grille with rectangular elements, the SXT concept features the same elements but with matte black surrounds that make it look more rugged. Both concepts, however, share the same squared LED headlights with vertical LED DRL strips, along with a chunky off-road specific bumper that protrudes out of the body.

The Vision T also has a tow-hook latch integrated into the bumper, finished in a contrasting yellow shade, while the Vision SXT gets a yellow highlight on the grille over the air dam.

Side

Both Vision T and Vision SXT look the same until the C-pillar, after which the Vision SXT has been extended to accommodate a flatbed. Other details like C-pillar-mounted door handle, side body cladding, off-road spec tyres, and a black strip that runs down from the ORVMs (outside rear view mirrors) to the lower section of the body, remain the same on both concepts.

The Vision T, however, features a jerry holder on the left rear quarter glass panel, which looks inspired by the Land Rover Defender.

Rear

From the rear, both Vision T and Vision SXT can easily be differentiated. The former gets a tailgate-mounted spare wheel along with squared tail lights featuring LED strips, and a blacked-out bumper, which also integrates a silver skid plate.

In contrast, the Vision SXT features a flatbed carrying two off-road tyres, secured by a matte-black panel with ‘Vision SXT’ branding. It also gets pixel-shaped LED tail lights, while two high-mounted stop lamps are positioned on the roof. The rugged appeal is maintained by a black bumper with an integrated silver skid plate.

Cabin

Inside, both the Vision concept SUVs have an upright dashboard design, and both feature a 3-spoke steering wheel, along with a large vertical screen in the centre, which also integrates the climate control display. There’s also a free-standing digital driver’s display placed in front of the steering wheel in both SUVs.

However, the two cabins can still be distinguished by their colour schemes. The Vision T gets a dual-tone black-and-green interior, while the Vision SXT features a mix of black, grey, and silver. The Vision SXT further stands out with contrasting yellow accents on the steering wheel, grab handles, and even the seatbelts. These touches give the Vision SXT a more adventure-focused appeal compared to the Vision T.

Powertrains

Both the Vision T and Vision SXT SUV concepts are based on the automaker’s new NU IQ platform. This platform supports the accommodation of different types of powertrains; hence, these concepts are expected to be offered in both ICE (internal combustion engine) and EV versions.

Launch Timelines

The Mahindra Vision T and Vision SXT concept SUVs are expected to arrive in their production-ready forms by 2028. The Vision T will take on the Force Gurkha, Force Gurkha 5-door, and Maruti Jimny. The SXT, on the other hand, will serve as a more rugged or adventure-focused alternative to compact SUVs like the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, and Maruti Grand Vitara.
