XUV 500, Swift once again play magic at NDTV Car & Bike Awards
One of the most popular TV news channels, NDTV has acknowledged the accomplishments of selected cars and bikes this year at their award function on 16th of this month. Audi RS5 , Maruti Swift and Mahindra XV500 has once again made the headlines winning a title each at the recent event after bagging enough awards at the Top Gear India magazine awards . The Audi RS5 is recognised as the 'performance car of the year' award, while the Maruti Swift and Audi A6 bagged the 'premium hatchback of the year' and 'premium sedan of the year' title each.

Mahindra XUV500 that won two titles at the recent Top Gear India awards is felicitated with the SUV of the year, while the premium SUV award goes to the BMW’s X1 series which has made quite a bit of contribution to the BMW India sales during the year. Its Hyundai Verna that swept the stage with three awards in its kitty. The 'compact sedan of the year', 'design of the year' award for its stunning exteriors with Hyundai’s fluidic design and another for the viewers’ choice award. The NDTV car and bike awards are given out to recognize the contributions made by the most deserving cars, motorbikes, media commercials and manufacturers. This is the seventh version of renowned channel awards held at the Buddh International Circuit to once again honour the venue that hosted the first Indian Grand Prix Formula 1 race.

The JLR’s baby Range Rover Evoque takes the best SUV in the imported category for this year and Audi A8L gets the overall' Imported car of the yea'r award. The apple of the eye in the hatchback segment, Chevrolet Beat is acknowledged on two grounds. The small hatchback gets the 'NDTV green award' for maintaining the low emissions and promote greener environment in the country. As it is the technology behind it that helped it reach the new heights, the Chevy Beat is also awarded for the best Automotive technology of the Year. The General Motors India president, Karl Slym is also recognised for his exemplary performance in the country with the Automotive Man of the year. This award comes at the right time just before he is to give up on his current role in India.
