Volkswagen Up! the Compact Hatchback Spotted in Pune
Volkswagen Up! is in the news for quite sometime now, and there were rumours spread about its launch plans in India, but Volkswagen officials preferred not to talk about it, so most considered that they are not still sure whether they should bring this compact hatchback to India or not. But recently the Up! Was spotted around Pune, Maharasthra which has made us believe that Volkswagen is still in mood to bet on this.
Pricing of the Up! has been one reason on which Volkswagen guys are taking up so much time, that whether they will be able to bring its price to a competitive level according to the Indian market. Recently both the three and five-door models of the Volkswagen Up! were spotted in Pune uncamouflage. The pictures suggest this particular version to be India made, as the European version has got the navigation screen and interiors are all black there, which are missing in the spotted car. So we believe that Volkswagen have been testing its feasibility and trying to cut its cost, and if everything goes as per the plan, we might see the Up! rolling out in India.
The Volkswagen Up! Might come to India with the similar 1.2-litre, 3-cylinder engine which currently houses the Polo hatchback that will help it in producing a good fuel economy, although the global version carries 1.0 (60PS) and 1.0 (75PS) engine in its 3-door and 5-door versions respectively.
Since Volkswagen has always planned to position it right below the Polo, so the price should be between Rs 4.5 lakh and 6.0 lakh. Stay tuned for more updates on the same. Cheers!!
