After showcasing it at the 2016 Auto Expo, Volkswagen has now finally launched the Highline Plus variant of the Vento in the Indian market at a starting price of Rs 10.84 lakh (ex-showroom Mumbai). The Highline Plus is the new top-spec variant of the Vento and is placed above the earlier top-spec variant, the Highline. It costs Rs 92,300 more than the Highline. Let's check the additional features offered with the new variant.

It has full LED headlamps with daytime running LED DRLs and comes equipped with a rear-view parking camera. Apart from these new features, the Vento Highline Plus has all the features offered in the Vento Highline variant. It has turn indicators on OVRMs, Zirkonia alloy wheels, 3D-effect tail lamps, automatic rain sensing wipers, auto-dimming IRVM, cooled glove box, rear AC vents and multifunctional steering.

As far as mechanicals are concerned, the new Volkswagen Vento has the same engine options on offer as other variants. You can choose between a 1.6-litre MPI naturally aspirated four-cylinder petrol, 1.2-litre TSI turbocharged four-cylinder petrol, and 1.5-litre turbocharged four-cylinder diesel engines. While the diesel version is available with both manual and automatic transmissions, the 1.2 petrol engine is only available with a DSG automatic gearbox. However, the 1.6 petrol engine has been coupled to a manual gearbox. The new variant is available at all Volkswagen showrooms across the country.

The Vento competes with sedans in the C-segment. Its primary rivals are the Maruti Suzuki Ciaz, Honda City and Hyundai Verna. While Honda introduced the City facelift in February, the next-generation Verna is likely to be launched in August. Also, Maruti Suzuki recently moved the Ciaz to the Nexa range of premium dealerships and its facelift is also expected to be introduced by the end of the year.
