The Mahindra NuvoSport's Price: Where Should it start?
Curious about Mahindra NuvoSport's price? Here's a little analysis that compares its soon-to-be-competitors to find out the same. Speaking of the competition, it comprises of the Ford EcoSport, the Mahindra TUV300 and the Maruti Vitara Brezza.

Mahindra is expected to launch the NuvoSport in April. It can be termed as a compact SUV, courtesy its boxy setup. However, the car draws its design inspiration from the Quanto and that certainly wasn’t a design idol. This, in turn, makes the car less appealing from certain angles, just as the Quanto. Though, Mahindra has done a commendable job with its face, but make sure you are always facing the front, in order to appreciate the car. Anyway, this piece isn’t about its aesthetic beauty, rather it’s about the monetary aspect. Let me run you through a quick analysis, as we try to guess the price of the Quanto, oh sorry, the NuvoSport.
Price of the other compact SUV
The compact SUV segment has flourished in a very short span of time and for the time being, we have three major cars in the sub-4-metre category. The prices of the Ford EcoSport, the Mahindra TUV300 and the Maruti Vitara Brezza, are as follows (all prices are ex-showroom, New Delhi):
- Ford EcoSport- INR 6.7 - 9.8 Lakhs
- Maruti Vitara Brezza - INR 7.0 - 9.7 Lakhs.
- Mahindra TUV300 - INR 7.3 - 9.5 Lakhs
Moreover, the outgoing Quanto, is priced between INR 6.9 Lakhs - 8.5 Lakhs. The NuvoSport is a different story altogether, as it will come will several new-generation features such as touchscreen infotainment system along with navigation. The cruise control comes in as an additional benefit. For this reason alone, it might be priced above the Quanto.
Here's our guess!
We think that the NuvoSport will be priced at INR 6.85 - 9.5 Lakhs. This will make it competitive versus the EcoSport and the Vitara Brezza.
As each manufacturer tries to undercut the others' price in this category, you, dear buyers are sure to be the one smiling. (in the same category).
One of the best examples was the TUV300, which was priced below the EcoSport diesel. However, at that time, Ford didn’t feel any heat and went on with the current price. Next was the Vitara Brezza, which obviously had to undercut the TUV300 and the EcoSport, which it later on did. Result? In turn Ford slashed the prices of the EcoSport by over a lakh rupees. Now, Mahindra by all the available means will try to undercut every other diesel car in the segment with the NuvoSport.
