    Tata Motors to spend big bucks on new Land Rover Defender

    As reported earlier, there were speculations regarding the brand name of the Land Rover Defender which is going to come in all new “Avatar” by 2015. Now recent updates in Indian automobile market states that Tata Motors is planning for release of an in-house assembled variant of Land Rover in India. Furthermore, since the all new 2011 Land Rover Defender is being assembled in India, company is hoping to make it slip inside the Indian armed forces too.

    According to relevant sources, Land Rover is currently holding discussions with Indian government regarding the induction of Land Rover. However in case of 2011 Land Rover Defender, the SUV will share the platform with other Land Rovers like estate versions and pick-ups. As per reports, Tata is working hard on the latest platform as it contributes towards one of its biggest investments, Land Rover.

    It is being expected that since 2011 Land Rover Defender is going to be assembled in India, the sales figures of the SUV might go high from current 18,000 units per year. This will in-directly make the manufacturing of Defender quite cheaper and it is also possible that the car might go favorite for Indian off road aficionados as well as people seeking cars for sole purpose of use at farmhouses and in the countryside areas.

    As per reports from reliable sources, the prototype of new Land Rover Defender with new platform is expected to see the light by 2013 and in mid-2015 the SUV will see the commercial launch. Furthermore with Indian market gaining speed and rapid growth in the income levels of Indians, the company is expecting good prospect for new Land Rover in India. Moreover, since Land Rover was earlier forced to stop sales of Land Rover Defender in United States due to faulty airbags in the 1990s, this time company is expected to enter again with all new platform and improved version of Land Rover.
