Peugeot 508 sedan has been spotted multiple times so far and is yet again spotted recently. This shows how aggressively the French car manufacturer is testing the new model. However, there are numerous rumours doing rounds in the country. Few opine the car manufacturer might introduce the new sedan during the next year, though there is no news of the upcoming launch so far. However, there is a possibility that the auto major could bring in the Peugeot 508 as a completely built Unit (CBU) initially. This can make the 2012 launch possible as expected. Then over a period of time, when the Peugeot manufacturing unit in Gujarat is up and functioning, the sedan can be expected to be rolled out locally. However, there is along way to go before we can see that happening. As of now, the Peugeot 508 price is expected to be in the range of Rs 20 lakhs to sit comfortably in the premium sedan segment.
The Peugeot 508 is expected to see a stiff competition for Skoda Superb and Volkswagen Passat in the D segment sedans. The sedan is available in the international markets with as many as eight engine options. Nevertheless, among the ample options, the 2.0 L HDi FAP diesel engine holds a high possibility. The fuel efficient and low on emissions engine is quite capable of producing the peak power of 163 Bhp and 350 Nm peak torque. It is the 6-speed automatic gearbox that makes the difference to result in the low CO2 emissions. The auto major claims that this powerful engine meets the emission standards by far with 149 g/km CO2. With ample interior space, the new sedan is expected to be quite easy in handling with high performace on board.
