Nissan Magnite Interior Revealed; Digital Instrument Cluster Confirmed

The images reveal the same red and black colour scheme on the interior as the concept’s exterior

Nissan unveiled the Magnite in its pre-production avatar on July 16. While only the exterior was revealed at that time, the carmaker has now released the official images of the sub-4m concept SUV’s interior for a glimpse at what the final car’s interior will look like.

The interior of this pre-production concept doesn’t feature any outlandish design features so we expect most of these elements to be carried forward to the final model. It features an 8.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system that will likely get connected car tech along with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay connectivity. It also confirms that the Magnite will be offered with a digital instrument cluster that features a digital speed readout in the centre with the gear indicator below it.

Nissan has matched the interior of the Magnite Concept with its exterior, following the same red and black theme for a dual-tone cabin. The dashboard features a honeycomb pattern with hexagonal AC vents. Nissan has positioned the central display below the vents for an uncluttered look. The climate controls with auto AC function get a three-dial layout and the LED display looks a lot like what we see in certain Hyundai and Maruti models. It can also be seen to feature push-button start-stop with the button on the central console instead of being next to the steering wheel. The steering wheel design will likely look different in the final model but it does reveal that the Magnite will also offer cruise control.

To up the premiumness of the cabin, the AC vents, steering wheel, centre console and door panels feature chrome detailing. Nissan will also offer it with front and rear armrests. While the sporty front seats get integrated headrests, Nissan is likely to offer adjustable headrests at the rear. The Magnite concept’s interior seems to be missing a three-point seatbelt or even a headrest for the middle passenger in the rear seat. It seems Nissan will be aiming its new SUV for those likely to use it as a comfy four-seater than a packed five seater. Apart from this, the Magnite is expected to get a 360-degree camera, rear AC vents, and four airbags.

Nissan will offer the Magnite as a petrol-only model. It will likely be available with a 1.0-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine (from the Triber) as well as a new 1.0-litre turbocharged motor. While the former is likely to be mated to a 5-speed manual, the more powerful engine could be paired to a CVT along with the standard manual gearbox. The naturally aspirated 1.0-litre petrol engine is good for 72PS while the turbo-petrol unit is expected to produce around 100PS of power.

The Magnite will rival other sub-4m SUVs such as the Hyundai Venue, Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza, Ford EcoSport, Mahindra XUV300, and Tata Nexon. It will also fight it out with the upcoming Kia Sonet, Renault Kiger and Toyota Urban Cruiser. Nissan is expected to price the Magnite from Rs 5.5 lakh onwards (ex-showroom) with the launch likely in January 2021.
