M&M suffers a loss of Rs 30 crore due to 'tool down' strike
Mahindra & Mahindra, India has recently witnessed tool down strike by its workers in its Nashik unit on Sunday. The workers strike was with the administration for its demands and also to provide support to the union leaders. The union leader is on indefinite hunger strike since last five days.

As per the reports due to the strike MM has suffered a loss of Rs 30 crore, as it manufacturers 550 vehicles every day. It includes the company's best selling products such as Mahindra Xylo loss of 300 units, Mahindra Bolero 200 units and also Mahindra Logan's 50 units.
As per the sources, a hunger strike has been reported by the MM employees Union which includes president, vice president and also general secretary has held the strike till sixth day which was yesterday. However, no settlement is reported between the company and the management. As per the union it wishes for the inclusion of Grade N-1 workers into the Grade O-2 and also “equal pay to equal work”.
Pravin Shinde, General Secretary, MM Employees’ Union has said that the Nashik unit has almost 3,000 workers who are permanent. Out of which as many as 1,800 workers fall in the Grade O-2 category with the salary ranging between Rs 23,000 to Rs 24,000 and the rest receive a salary of Rs 9,000 who fall under Grade N-1 category. The union is saying that these workers are doing the same work but getting paid half of what the Grade O-2 are receiving. The strike is to bring justice to the rest of the workers who they think are unpaid.
