Mitsubishi Cedia all set to take Chennai by storm

Legendary rally car Mitsubishi Cedia Sports is all geared up for yet another roaring victory as it participates in Rally of Chennai, Round 2 of Federation of Motor Sports Clubs of India’s (FMSCI) Speed Indian National Rally Championship (INRC) 2011, that starts from June 25 at the Madras Motor Sports Track, Irungattukottai (Chennai). Out of the 28 vehicles participating in the rally, as many as 11 vehicles are Mitsubishi Cedias.

Blazing all guns following a resounding performance at the Rally of Maharashtra in Nashik where they bagged the top three positions in different categories, the Cedias are once again all ready for a repeat performance in Chennai.This powerhouse on wheels has to its credit 34 trail-blazing victories in World Rally Championship and Federation Internationale de l’ Automobile circuits. Closer home, Mitsubishi Cedia has been winning Western India Sports Association’s INRC annual rounds consecutively since 2006. Famous rallyist and Editor of a popular magazine Mr. Sirish Chandran, will once again be steering the vehicle at the Chennai round of Speed INRC. Mr. Chandran recently won the Rally of Maharashtra where he stood first in the category Group N (unmodified) 2000-cc class and figured overall third.

Speaking on the eve of Rally of Chennai, Mr. Chandran stated, “ There was no doubting its speed but thanks to the astonishing reliability of our Red Rooster Performance-prepared Mitsubishi Cedia Sports we had an unbelievable start to the season at Nashik winning the Group N class by a full three minutes. We now go into the South India rally full of confidence and our Cedia looks in excellent shape, belting out some serious horsepower figures on the dyno. This is also HM-Mitsubishi’s home rally and we will be going all out to extend our lead at the head of the Group N standings.”

Eminent Mitsubishi Cedia drivers of the INRC rally who will be participating in the Rally of Chennai are Mr. Rahul Kanthraj (2010 1600-cc champion), Mr. Vikram Devadasen (2009 1400-cc champion), Mr. Karna Kadur (2009 RSC Champion), Mr. Shailendra Hegde (2010 1600-cc 1st runner-up), Mr. Roopesh Kholay and Mr. Harsha and others. Being organized by the Madras Motor Sports Club, the INRC rally has total eleven stages, with 1st and 8th being the Super Special Stage (done on tarmac). Total rally distance (for 11 stages) is 108.4 kms.The Speed Indian National Rally Championship has 5 categories viz. the Gypsy Cup, 1400 Star Cup, 1600-cc Group N, 2000-cc Group N (all Mitsubishi Cedias) and 2000-cc Group N+ (all heavily modified Mitsubishi Cedias).
