Maruti to upgrade 800 & Omni to meet BS IV norms

Maruti Suzuki India (MSI) is forced to rethink its decision of phasing out Maruti 800 and Omni. It is informed that the decision has come from the marketing division. Maruti Suzuki Managing Executive Officer I V Rao told that the company's marketing division suggests them to upgrade the Maruti 800 and Omni to meet Bharat Stage 4 emission norms rather than phasing them out in 2010.

Rao said the company will not phase out the cars as work to upgrade the car is going to start. t week, Maruti Suzuki would be launching its new model, Ritz, for this fiscal. Ritz would compete directly against Swift, another model from the Maruti stable.
It is to be mentioned here that the sales of these models saw a huge fall after the announcement.
