After Alto 800, Maruti Suzuki Making News with its 800cc Diesel Engine
We recently broke the news about Maruti Suzuki Alto 800, test mules for whichwe caught on camera last week. Following the same is another news flash from the eminent house of Maruti. If rumors are to be believed then India’s favorite, Maruti Suzuki might bring an 800cc diesel engine soon enough, as well. The new engine has been codenamed E2 and is still under the scalpel in Suzuki’s plant in Japan. The speculations are that the diesel engine will be capable of producing a power of 40bhp and a fuel efficiency of 25kmpl-30kmpl.

Looking at these figures, one can say, if the upgraded version of Alto/800 is the cake then the new small diesel engine might just prove to be the cherry on the top. This speculated engine will reach India within a time span of one year and is expected to power the next-gen A-star or the new Alto 800. However this engine will be ready by 2015. The new Maruti Alto 800 which is expected to come in around Diwali has high hopes attached to it. In India the small cars constitute of nearly 45% of the total sales and therefore a new improved Alto/800 might just do wonders for Maruti India and help it regain the market that Alto lost to other competitors.
