Maruti Suzuki’s new 793cc diesel engine is all ready to hit the Indian market. Maruti Suzuki Celerio will come with three trims, LDi, VDi and ZDi. The VDi will come with an option of ABS too. This is Suzuki’s first in-house developed diesel engine and it will be the smallest diesel engine in India. The 793cc diesel engine will churn about 50bhp of power and it will be coming with common rail diesel technology.

We expect Maruti Suzuki to also add more engines to this range. The launch of the Celerio is about three months away. The company has just sent six prototypes to complete the final testing in Japan.

There is no hiding, Maruti Suzuki will be introducing an AMT in its this new diesel engine too. We aren’t sure when, but a diesel AMT at this price will make it a lot more affordable, if it comes. The Celerio will be the cheapest diesel car in India and this will remain true until we see a Nano diesel, for which tests are going on.

Maruti Suzuki is now ready to launch the Ciaz, which has completed its final round of testing in Japan. These prototypes were sent to Japan in June and we can expect them to hit our dealerships by September. Maruti Suzuki will replace the SX4 with the Ciaz. This will be an all-new sedan for the company, it had showcased these at the Auto Expo this year. The next project for Maruti Suzuki will be the SX4 S-Cross.
