Maruti registers maximum car sales in December, 2010

The attractive discount offers and freebies resulted in highest level of sales in the month of December. Th year end discounts forced many consumers to plan their purchase in this month and with the maximum sales, Maruti Suzuki manages the top position. The country's largest auto maker, Maruti Suzuki overtook all other manufacturers by marking a record of 1.38-lakh sales in the month of December 2010. The sales were a straight 54% jump by 89,469 units from that of last year figures. Similar was the story with the all famous Hyundai Motors by making a sales of 51,000 units as against 26,168 cars dispatched last year. On the other hand sales of 6,200 cars was marked by Honda Siel India and 7,500 cars by Toyota.

Addressing the occasion, Arvind Saxena who is the director of marketing & sales in Hyundai commented that the best deals accompanied with the high market swing resulted in commendable demand in the month of December and is expected to further increase in coming time as few customers have postponed their purchase for better offers.

The exponential increase in demand faced by the automobile industry was further enhanced by new and exclusive launches like Volkswagen Polo and Ford Figo. Industry experts also claim that the Indian car dynamics has faced a big change as the customer's average age is reduced to 32 from that of earlier 39 years.

On the occasion, Mr. Sander Singh who is the deputy MD of marketing in Toyota commented that demographic change in the Indian customers has helped the market sustain with the lucrative discounts being the other reason.

At the end of year 2010, the announcement of price rise in next year was announced by many car manufacturers, this was again a major reason that the Dec sales took a great hike as many consumers persevered their purchase to save themselves from this hike.
