According to the company officials, Maruti Suzuki will concentrate on the sales of Maruti 800 in the villages and towns of India, so that the customers of these places own a good quality product along with a reasonable price. The ex-showroom cost of Maruti 800 in Guwahati begins at Rs. 2.14 lakhs.
Maruti 800 was launched in the year 1983. The car showed great results in its sales. In the sheer first year of the launch, around 852 cars were sold. During the period of 1986-87, the car became the bestseller of the company. It set a brand new record of selling 50,000 cars. The period 1999-2000 made the model set a record of 1,89,061 cars. The Indian auto export’s tale begins with Maruti 800. During 1986-87, Maruti Suzuki successfully exported sixty four Maruti 800 cars.

The export figure of Maruti 800 is speculated to reach 20000 units per year.
