A popular automobile magazine has awarded Mahindra and Mahindra’s Farm and Automotive sector President Pawan Goenka with the ‘Man of the Year 2011’ award. He is recognised for his achievements in variety of fields. Mahindra XUV 500’s unparalleled success in the history of car industry and the auto giant’s undeniable growth despite the sluggish car market are not something to be dismissed easily.

The South Korean utility car manufacturer SsanYong’s acquisition came at the right time when they just lost the bid of Jaguar Land Rover to Tata Motors is another break for the domestic car manufacturer under his leadership. Mahindra Bolero’s extraordinary success to stand top among the best-selling SUVs is also not something to be ignored which is another feather to his cap. This is not the first time Dr Goenka has been recognised for his efforts. Back in 2008, he was acknowledged as the ‘Architect of M&M’s Global Dreams’. The acquisition of SsangYong is one of the right decisions made by Mahindra which is just short of launching two SUV’s from the Korean auto maker, the Rexton and Korando E next month.
