Mahindra Automotive has revealed its new ‘Twin Peaks’ logo, and the upcoming XUV700 will be the first Mahindra vehicle to feature it, while other SUVs will get it in a phased manner. It is shaped like a butterfly, and some might even see it as a bow-tie. It also kinda reminds us of the old Maruti logo but while that was strictly 2D, this one has a 3D element to it.

As far as the XUV700 is concerned, it is a pretty important vehicle for Mahindra. Since the launch of the XUV500 ten years ago, the company has been steadily shifting towards making vehicles that are known for their performance and features, and not only their robustness. Vehicles like the Marazzo and the new Thar were new paragraphs in this new Mahindra story, whereas the XUV700 promises to turn a page.

However, Indian consumers continue to associate Mahindra vehicles with robustness, and not much else. For new age Mahindra vehicles to be successful, and for the Indian carmaker to carve out a bigger piece of the pie for itself, that image will have to evolve. That’s where the new logo comes into play.

Mahindra had revealed earlier that they plan on launching nine new vehicles in the next five years. These will be full new-generation vehicles and not facelifts. All these vehicles will carry the new logo, and will represent a new age in Mahindra’s automotive journey, where the cars offer a well-rounded experience to consumers. The new logo will also serve to differentiate Mahindra’s automotive division from its commercial vehicles and farm equipment divisions, which will continue to use the older logo.
