Indian auto giant, Mahindra Mahindra yesterday launched a mini passenger van called Maxximo Mini Van VX at a price of Rs 3.7-3.8 lakh in both BS II and BSIV compliant options. Having powered with a two-cylinder 900cc diesel engine, the all new Mini Van will be directly competing with Maruti Suzuki’s Omni Van. Speaking on the launch, Mahindra Mahindra’s Sr. VP, Sales Customer care, Arun Malhotra said, “We are first launching the vehicle in Gujarat, which is the biggest market for mini vans. This will be followed by Rajasthan and then we will gradually roll out the vehicle across the country,”

He further said, “MM is targeting stage carrier users, tours travel agencies, school vans and also for commercial purpose. Compared to a petrol van, Maxximo gives more mileage. It runs 18 to 20 km per litre and as per our estimate, if the customer runs the vehicle 100 km on daily basis, will save Rs7,000 every month, compared to a petrol van,”

With the launch of Maxximo Mini Van, Mahindra Mahindra has entered in a new segment, which has been growing at an impressive 10 per cent, and majority of the market is mainly dominated by MSI’s Omni and the Ecco. So it will now be interesting to see the competition between these two giants. Speaking on the competition, Malhotra said that there are no specific targets for the Maxximo Mini Van as of now. The company’s idea is to first introduce it to customers across India and ramping up production at the Chakan plant as per the demand.
