Latest Spy Shots Of 2023 Hyundai Verna Reveal Sedan's New Design Language

The latest sighting happened just outside the carmaker's facility near Chennai

• 2023 Verna will likely feature the same powertrain as the current model.

• A majority of the changes will likely be in terms of design and features.

• The new generation model will come with ADAS.

• Expected to be priced from Rs 10 lakh (ex-showroom) onwards.

Test mules of the 2023 Hyundai Verna were spotted earlier this week in Chennai and in Delhi. The carmaker has already introduced new iterations of the Venue and Tucson this year, and the updated Verna could be next in line.

The model which was spied on hints at a bigger front grille, which may be inspired by the same design language as seen in the Tucson. In the rear, the new tail lamps could be connected together via an LED strip, a design element that we saw in the Venue and the Tucson. 

Previously, a Verna test mule was seen with a radar housed in the front bumper, which indicated that the sedan would get Advanced Driver-Assistance Systems (ADAS). Overall, it appears to look more premium than the outgoing version, especially with those stylish alloy wheels.

Its interior has not been pictured yet, but we expect it to be heavily revised as well. A large touchscreen display with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, a digital driver’s display, wireless phone charger, dual zone climate control and ventilated front seats are likely to be offered on the new generation Verna.

The 2023 Verna will most likely offer the same engines as the current model. They include a 1.5-litre petrol (making 115PS and 144Nm), a 1.5-litre diesel (115PS and 250Nm), and a 1-litre turbo-petrol engine (120PS and 172Nm). 

Transmission options for these units include a six-speed manual and a CVT for the 1.5-litre petrol engine, a six-speed manual and a six-speed automatic for the 1.5-litre diesel unit and only a seven-speed DCT for the 1-litre turbo-petrol.

It is expected to get pricier with a likely starting price of Rs 10 lakh (ex-showroom). The new and improved Verna will rival the Honda City, Skoda Slavia, Volkswagen Virtus and the Maruti Ciaz.
