Isuzu MU-X Launched At Rs 23.99 Lakh

Japanese carmaker’s second shot at the full-sized SUV segment dominated by the Toyota Fortuner and Ford Endeavour

Japanese carmaker, Isuzu, has launched its new 7-seater SUV, the MU-X, in India today at a starting price of Rs 23.99 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi). It shares most of its underpinnings with the brilliant D-Max V-Cross pick-up truck and is also a cousin to the Chevrolet Trailblazer. Details of the Isuzu MUX were leaked online a couple of days back, and it has been learnt that the SUV will only be available in one trim level and act as the replacement to the Isuzu MU-7.

Isuzu MU-X 4x2: Rs 23.99 Lakh

Isuzu MU-X 4x4: Rs 25.99 Lakh

Under the hood of the MU-X is a 3.0-litre, 4-cylinder turbo-diesel engine that cranks out 177PS of power and 380Nm of torque. Mated to the engine is a 5-speed automatic transmission with sequential shift and brake shift technology. The oomph is transferred to the road via an all-wheel-drive system which is accompanied by a ‘shift-on-fly’ transfer box with 4x4 Low and 4x4 High drive modes. The company claims that the big, brawny SUV is capable of returning a fuel-efficiency of 13.8kmpl (4x2 AT variant) and has a ground cleanance of 220mm.

To ensure all of the available power is utilised efficiently and to ensure that the SUV doesn’t feel scary on the move, Isuzu has equipped the MUX with electronic stability control (ESC), traction control system (TCS), hill-start assist (HSA), 4-channel, 4-sensor anti-lock braking system (ABS) setup with electronic brakeforce distribution (EBD) and emergency brake assist (EBA). In terms of safety, the MU-X features dual-airbags, rear parking camera, impact-sensing automatic door unlock with airbag release, front seatbelts with pretensioners and load limiters and three ISOFIX child seat anchorages in the second row.

In terms of creature-comforts, the Isuzu ticks almost all the boxes. The feature list includes electrically-adjustable driver’s seat, a power outlet each for all three rows, automatic climate control, a roof-mounted 10-inch DVD monitor, cruise control and a 7.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system with 8-speakers and iPod and Bluetooth compatibility. On the outside, MU-X gets LED daytime running lights (DRLs), projector headlamps, 17-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels and two-tone front and rear bumpers.

The Isuzu MUX is available in four colours options for the body - Silky White Pearl, Orchid Brown Mica, Cosmic Black Mica and Titanium Silver Metallic. The SUV will be locally manufactured at the Japanese manufacturer’s Sri City-based manufacturing facility in Andhra Pradesh. Its list of rivals include the Toyota Fortuner, Ford Endeavour and the Chevrolet Trailblazer.

    CarDekho - 4Star ASEAN NCAP safety rating, 380m, Euro4 only, and OnRoad price 30lac is the OnRoad Price of !!TWO!! D MAX V Cross!! despite being the same vehicle with same 4Star safety rating with 2only Airbags, In Australia Both D mAX and MuX are priced same at 54000$ for top model, in India the OnRoad Price diff should not exceed 2lac rupees....they both are bl00dy SAME SUV with 2 extra child seats, even shorter in length, and a hatch dooR.

      MU X and D mAX are it is an old vehicle, designed nearly in 2011 in joint venture with Chevrolet. Which means both paid only half the cost of its development, and they are Copy pasting one vehicle since 2013, and have already earned a lot from this dated platform since then. Meaning, it became already cheaper by a very-very good margin, they can sell it really cheap like Tata did with Indica after its such a long run, its very identical to the Super Hit movie, which becomes Tax free after a long run. ISUZU which has Only two passenger cars to produce with one or two trims levels ,which are already 6 year OLD, that too on the same platform, that too is also very well shared in terms of expenses by Chevrolet (GM) and ISUZU. That means Isuzu does not have need to employ bigger work force like Maruti or Toyota or Ford....They don’t have multiple assembly lines of sedans ,hatchbacks, crossovers, their development teams and all their big Expanses. Which actually makes it affordable under 18lac ON ROAD...but at 30lac...... NO..NO!! MuX is an Outdated one with Only 4Star NCAP safety on two air bag model and Euro4 engine (Endeavour and Fortuner are 5Star safe on 6 air bag models and Euro5 engines which are already Euro6 ready), only 600mm wading depthEndeavour800mm ,Fortuner700mm), No Differential LocK!! (Thar and Emdeavour has rear ones), 225lit Cargo space(Fortuner has less than 215, Endeavour has 440lit), Child Only compatible third row , 5Gears(Safari and har has 5, Fortuner and Endeavour has 6 Auto) , Headroom eating AC ducting and music system in the Roof, 17inch wheels, and very ordinary 220mm Ground clearance(Cousin Trailblazer has 253mm), 170HP, 380Nm(Safari has 400Nm),65litfuel tank.

        Only 600mm water wading depth.. WHY? Competetion has 800mm rain ready capability to fight Delhi roads in flooded rainy season

          Safari Storme which Is now Indian Army’s official Vehicle!! with 156hp and 400 nm , Limitid slip diffential 4x4 can easily kill not only MuX.. but Dmax V cross also in practicality. As for 18 lac car you will pay insurance amount of RS. 65000 every year, and for 30lac car, you will have to pay more than 1lac !!!! Rs. Per year. D Max was also over priced with useless –Break Over Angle Killing Length .....and MuX is Robbery!!! At 31 lakh On Road Delhi, MuX is OverPriced by more than 10Lac Rs.On Road, as per its specs and cheap Dmax like plastics, body, headlights, interiors and earlier expectations. It is actually D-Max VCross (which has 15.35lac ON Road price) with 500 more CC , 2 more seats, EVEN shorter tax saving length , and an outdated 5speed automatic , Plus 15Lac Rs. Extra, You will actually pay the price of TWO D-Max VCross 4x4 SUVs. Same Brand Almost same Vehicle and JUST DOUBLE price. AND NO SERVICE CENTERS. It only deserves Rs.2.5Lac extra ON ROAD over D MAX VC i.e not more than 18Lac in any State of India. As it is an old vehicle, designed nearly in 2011 in joint venture with Chevrolet. (with 800mm wading depth ,LOCKING Rear Differential, 80-20 all time 4x4, 440lit bootspace,200PS power, 470Nm torque, 5Star safety, 5Cylinder Sporty Sounding Euro6 ready engine, 85lit fuel tank, 18inch wheel, Super Car like Instrument Cluster, Unmatched Stability on car like Fords famous hanling at just one lakh extra than MuX...Great!! No?, plus optional 8Air Bags, And active noise cancellation system, sun roof available) MuX has Only 600m.m water wading depth(Endeavour 800mm, Fortuner700mm), It has Open Diffrentials which is a SHAME (Endeavour and fortuner has LOCKING rear ones, even safari has Limited slip Differentials, Thar has auto locking rear ones, and its a MOst utterly IMportant feature for a true 4x4) , it is Euro 4 which will be outdated soon (Endeavour is already Euro 6 Ready!!) , In 2016 with its OutDated Body Shell in AseanNCAP it scored only 4 star SAFETY rating..which is POLO like..SHAME (Fortuner and Endeavour Have latest BODY and so they scored FULL 5 STAR*****), it has OutDated 5speed gearbox( where as Fortuner and others like Endeavour has 6speed automatic At the very same price you may get equally powerfull and fuel efficient Endeavour2.2 trend, with bigger440 lit all seat up boot, against 230lit of MuX!! , 80lit fuel tank comparable to 85lac toyota PRADO ..MuX has 65 lit, full length 3rd row bench instead of MuX's glass holder obstruction. MuX has ordinary Instrument cluster, Endeavour has Ferrari like fully digital one, one of a kind in India, Endeavour is a full time 4x4 with80:20 torque split all time, MuX is part time. Or pay 1 lac extra and get 3200cc 200BHP and 470NM Endeavour Over seas Endeavour has been compared with PRADO and also PRICED it IT and where as MuX is always slotted as the CHEAPEST 4x4 in Australia and Phillipins

            Rohit Kalla thanks Rohit..actually it is nothing more than Madness to give some body more than 30 lac for OffRoad capability and 2 extra Children Seats, who wants to shatter his 30 lack car OFF the ROAD? Take a look: In the price of a 30-33lac 7 seat(2 Child Seat actually) SUV..you may other wise have : - 1Thar(GOD of Extreme offroaders in India) + 1Toyota corolla (worlds No1.Sedan)/Octavia(5Star Safe ) + 1Tata Nano Automatic Or 1Thar + 1Honda City Diesel + 1Suzuki Ignis + 1RoyalEnfield + 1ArilliaSR150 /Activa Or 1Thar + 1Innova + 1Nano + 1Enfield + 1Activa. Think about it!! In countries othr than India..both Dmax Vcross and MuX are priced SAME!! (for e.g. in Australia..TOP Models of both are priced at $54000 , But in India Dmax VC comes OnRoad at 15.35 lac and MuX at JUST DOUBLE 31Lac ON ROAD..why? It only deserves Rs.2.5Lac extra ON ROAD over D MAX VC i.e not more than 18LacON ROAD in any State of India.
