Hyundai will be introducing its smallest SUV in India yet on 21 May 2019. The Venue will be positioned below the Creta which has been Hyundai’s icon in the compact SUV segment. The details and specifications of the Venue known thus far can be read here. But how does this upcoming sub-4m SUV compare to its bigger sibling in terms of appearance? We take a look:

1.Front

The Venue features the split-headlamp design and new cascading grille. Both those elements are evolutions of the front end design of the Creta, which has conventionally positioned headlamps and a relatively smaller grill. Both the SUVs pack halogen projector headlamps with daytime running LEDs. The Venue is still visibly a segment lower than the Creta, even though its only 10mm narrower than the Creta which measures 1780mm wide. The Creta certainly features a comparatively neutral styling of the two.

2. Side

The side profile is where the two siblings seem the most similar even though the Venue is not as boxy as the Creta. In terms of measurements, the Venue being a sub-4m is 3995mm long which is 275mm shorter than the Creta. The Creta stands 1665mm tall and the Venue is 75mm shorter. Also, the compact SUV can be had with 17-inch alloys while the upcoming sub-4m SUV gets 16-inch alloys tops.

Hyundai offers the Creta in a dual-tone paint option but hasn’t announced a similar option for the Venue yet. However, the US-spec Venue does get a dual-tone roof option.

3. Rear

The Venue is clearly a smaller car than the Creta when viewed from this angle. It’s rear proportions are noticeably less chunky with less cladding on the bumper and a new smaller tail lamp design as well. The Venue comes with a diffused crystalline pattern for the LED-lit tail lamps that looks premium compared to the Creta’s LED unit. The Venue is the first Hyundai in India to feature the name at the centre of the tailgate.

4. Dashboard

Hyundai has equipped the upcoming Venue with a new 8-inch touchscreen infotainment display which is a size bigger than the the Creta’s. It also features a new relatively cleaner dashboard layout with a free floating display as compared to the Creta which is due a generation change.

5. Rear Seat

The Venue’s rear seats are quite similar to those seen in the Creta, albeit with a different upholstery pattern. However, we’ll know the exact difference in the proportions and passenger space available between the two later on.

Both get rear AC vents and a sunroof which makes the cabin feel airier, especially in the case of the smaller Venue.

While the Creta may look dated in comparison to the Venue, Hyundai is expected to launch the next-gen of the compact SUV in India in next year, with a possible introduction at the 2020 Auto Expo.
