Hyundai Elite i20 Launched at Rs 4.89 lakh

Hyundai has finally launched its much anticipated Elite i20 premium hatchback at a price tag of Rs 4.89 lakh while the base diesel is priced at Rs 6.10 lakh. The new premium hatchback is based on company's new Fluidic Sculpture 2.0, an updated design philosophy of the previous models. The car features revamped exterior profile and a completely new interiors. Dealers prior to its launch have already started taking advance bookings with a payment of INR 25,000. The carmaker retains Era, Magna and Sportz, Sportz (O) and Asta variants. The car gets its new form which is an outcome of the engineers at Hyundai Motor's Design Centre in Russelsheim, Germany.

Exteriors embraces a lot of changes too. The front fascia of this premium hatch now features redesigned headlamps, hexagonal grille, trapezoidal fog lamps and boomerang styled rear tail lights. The car sits on 15-inch wheels while the top end variants gets 16 inch premium diamond-cut alloy wheels. The door handles also gets premium chrome finishing. It now gets 7 new graceful colors.

The interior of Elite i20 features new eye-catching dashboard but continues with the same black and beige scheme with silver accents. Other convenient features include updated large screen multimedia 2-DIN audio system with USB, AUX-in and 1GB storage support, steering mounted controls and AC with advance automatic climate control along with rear air cons seen first in Grand i10 and engine push start/stop switch, etc.

In the safety department, Elite i20 offers Anti-lock braking system (ABS) with Electronic brake-force distribution (EBD), four passenger airbags and reverse parking camera.

Under the hood, the car retains the same engine line-up housing 1.2-litre Kappa petrol unit that develops 81bhp and 115Nm of torque coupled to 5-speed manual transmission system. The fuel efficient 1.4-litre U2 diesel engine also remain unchanged that develops 88.8bhp and whopping 220Nm of max torque coupled with 6-speed manual transmission.

12.04 PM: The environmental friendly U2 1.4-liter CRDi diesel engine is low on emission and Noise Vibration and Harness (NVH) levels, however it operates at a high pressure of 1,800 bars.
