Honda Jazz Gets Dual Airbags As Standard

Taking the next step in the direction of boosting safety across its portfolio, Honda Cars India has now introduced dual SRS airbags as standard in its hatchback, the Jazz (both diesel and petrol). The addition will reflect right from the base E model, going up to the top-end VX, according to the company’s website. 

The prices have also been reportedly increased by Rs 12,000 across different variants and trims of the car. Earlier, dual airbags were available beginning from the mid-range SV trim of the Honda Jazz, eluding the E and S variants. 

If reports are to be believed, all units of the Honda Jazz, manufactured from November 2016 onward, will come with dual airbags as standard. Other safety features on the Jazz include ABS with EBD (optional), impact mitigating headrest and immobiliser system and pedestrian injury minimisers in case of collision. 

Talking about the mechanicals of the car in its current iteration, it comes in both petrol and diesel avatars. The petrol is powered by a 1.2-litre i-VTEC engine that churns out 90PS of power and 110Nm of peak torque. The diesel, on the other hand, comes with a 1.5-litre i-DTEC mill that is good for 100PS and 200Nm. Power is transmitted via either a 5-speed manual or a CVT gearbox (only petrol).

As mentioned earlier, the new Honda Jazz is available in five variants and comes at a starting price of Rs 5.81 lakh for the petrol and Rs 7.12 lakh (both prices ex-showroom Delhi) for the diesel.
