After a long wait, Honda has finally launched the Brio Facelift in the country at Rs 4.69 lakh (Ex-showroom Delhi). This update will be the first since September 2011, when the car was first brought to India. The Brio is Honda's entry level car in the Indian market and its compact proportions make its ideal for city use. The car comes with updates both inside and out, similar to the ones seen on the Amaze facelift back in March 2016. Mechanically, the engine and gearbox remain the same.

Speaking of the changes, the facelifted Brio gets a bigger, more aggressive front bumper, which is identical to the one on the Amaze, with angular fog lamp housings and muscular creases. The lower portion of the bumper gets a wide air dam with a honeycomb mesh grille. The front face gets a bold single slat grill with the Honda insignia and is flanked by teardrop headlamps. This design too is in sync with the Amaze. The only thing different is the missing chrome on the grille. The side and rear profile of the car remain identical to the previous model, with a rising shoulder line and triangular tail lamps. The only noticeable change at the rear is the addition of the spoiler with brake light.

Variant Price
E MT             Rs 4.69 Lakh
S MT             Rs 5.20 Lakh
VX MT         Rs 5.95 Lakh
VX AT           Rs 6.81 Lakh

Inside, the hatchback gets an ‘all-new’ cabin –  ‘all-new’ for the Brio, but one that we have already seen on the BR-V, Jazz and the Amaze. The Brio gets dual-tone interiors with chrome accents on the dashboard. The top end variant, on the other hand, gets 'Sporty Black' Interiors. The centre console consists of a music system which has Bluetooth phone integration and audio streaming. Below this unit are the automatic climate control switches with a display. The instrument cluster is a clear, three-dial analogue unit with warning lights and a digital trip metre.

Mechanically, as mentioned, the engine remains identical to the earlier model. The Brio uses a 1.2-litre i-VTEC petrol motor which comes mated to a five-speed manual or a five-speed automatic transmission giving a fuel economy of 18.5kmpl and 16.5kmpl respectively. The engine produces 88PS of power and 109Nm of peak torque.

In terms of safety, the Brio Facelift comes with Advanced Compatibility Engineering (ACE™) body, dual SRS airbags, Anti-Lock Braking System (ABS), Electronic Brakeforce Distribution (EBD) and a seat belt pre-tensioner. Also, the front is equipped with Pedestrian Injury Mitigation Technology designed to absorb impact energy.

This facelift is likely to boost the dull sales of the Brio in the market. With the refreshed interiors and exteriors and the festive timing, it does tick all the right boxes to make a strong comeback in the market.
