Honda Cars India will launch the second-gen Amaze on May 16, 2018. The new Amaze made its debut at the 2018 Indian Auto Expo in February, while Honda began accepting pre-launch bookings from early April. It will go up primarily against the Maruti Dzire as before along with other compact sedans such as the Hyundai Xcent, Tata Tigor and Zest, Volkswagen Ameo and the upcoming Ford Aspire facelift.

The second-generation Amaze looks much sharper and mature compared to the previous one. Even the silhouette now looks relatively proportionate. Overall, its design seems to be inspired from the India-bound tenth-generation Accord. Read about it in detail here: First Look: New Honda Amaze.

The second-gen Amaze’s equipment list has also been revised, especially since the Dzire has set a new benchmark in the segment with features such as LED projector headlamps, flat-bottom steering wheel, Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. Even other cars in the segment such as the Ameo, Xcent or even the upcoming Aspire facelift are pretty well loaded. Over the previous model, the new Amaze offers cruise control, a new 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, improved driver info display and more. That said, Honda is yet to reveal the entire features list, though.

It will carry forward the same 1.2-litre petrol and 1.5-litre diesel engine options with a standard 5-speed manual transmission. The diesel, however, will get a segment-first CVT automatic option. The petrol, on the other hand, was already offered with one, but will now give you the option of paddle shifters as well. Expect the new Amaze to be more fuel efficient than the previous one, which was claimed to offer 17.8kmpl/18.1kmpl (CVT) with petrol and 25.8kmpl with the diesel engine. To put things into perspective, the new Dzire offers returns class-leading mileage of 22kmpl and 28.40kmpl in its petrol and diesel guises respectively.

Prices of the first-gen Amaze start from Rs 5.85 lakh and go up to Rs 8.5 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi). Expect the new Amaze to be more expensive.
