General Motors India’s sales grow by 59% in 2010

General Motors, successfully running its Chevrolet brand has astound the world by showing a spectacular 59 per cent hike in Dec sales. The company was able to sell 1,10,804 units in the year 2010 which was just 69,579 units in calendar year 2009. General Motors was able to reach a sale of 8,258 units in the Month of Dec 2009 which rose to 8,468 units in year 2010.

General Motors, successfully running its Chevrolet brand has astound the world by showing a spectacular 59 per cent hike in Dec sales. The company was able to sell 1,10,804 units in the year 2010 which was just 69,579 units in calendar year 2009.

General Motors was able to reach a sale of 8,258 units in the Month of Dec 2009 which rose to 8,468 units in year 2010. On splitting the dec sales on basis of models, 120 units of Chevrolet Captiva, 258 units of Chevrolet, 271 units of Chevrolet Aveo U-VA, 288 units of Chevrolet Optra, 623 units of Chevrolet Cruze, 1694 units of Chevrolet Tavera, 2523 units of Chevrolet Beat and 2691 units of Chevrolet Spark were sold.

The success of General Motors does not end here as the company was able to reach the 1,00,000 units mark on 27th Dec 2010 itself. The major reason behind the big success was Chevrolet Cruze, Chevrolet Spark and Chevrolet Beat. The spectacular performance of these models has created a benchmark for the company. The overwhelming response from market kept the company’s performance simply outstanding. The respective segment of all these models was sizzled up with these launches. Moreover for the fourth consecutive year Chevrolet Spark bagged the top award for quality in the India Automotive Initial Quality Study announced by J.D Power Asia Pacific 2010. this has made it the most sort after car in its segment. The major credit goes to its design and supreme technology.

Addressing the stand out performance of the company, Mr. P. Balendran who is the Vice President of GM India, commented that the company is extremely excited to welcome this overwhelming response from market and it’s a pleasure to introduce best in class cars for Indian Auto markets. He also said that the company’s tremendous performance is a proof that people trust their brand and the company will try its best to maintain the faith.

2011 is goping to be a special year for the company as it will mark 100 years of its successful operations globally.
