Chevrolet Sonic, the future Chevrolet Aveo

General Motors, the American car manufacturer is coming up with something really interesting and unexpected. The American major is heard to be working on its entry level sedan, Chevrolet Aveo to give it a complete new framework and a new identity as well. This future face of Chevrolet Aveo is rumored to be named as Chevrolet Sonic and make its entry in markets by 2012, with US being the first to welcome it. The name Chevrolet Aveo has been a topic of concern for the company since quite a long time. As per sources from industry, former U.S. marketing chief Mark LaNeve was earlier in a view to name this model “Viva” and not “Aveo” but owing to the GM’s bankruptcy filing, he nodded for Chevrolet Aveo.

The model has made a lackluster image in market which is a topic of concern for the company and to work on this ruined image, Joel Ewanick, the new marketing chief of General Motors has come into action. Suggesting a solution to the problem, Joel has concluded that the car needs a new name now. Yet no official announcement has been made by the company but as per company sources, the name 'Chevrolet Sonic' has been signed off. And as per the U.S. Trademark records, the American car manufacturer on October 5th has filed an application for a trademark on the name “Chevrolet Sonic”.

The speculations also claims that the model will be available for global markets so we can really expect Chevrolet Sonic in India as well by 2012. The name 'Chevrolet Sonic' will remain intact all over the globe and country wise naming will not be adopted with this entry level sedan. The launch of Chevrolet Sonic is expected in U.S. first and then Europe markets. So far no official pictures or details of specifications are out but is expected to wear similar features as Chevrolet Aveo. We can also expect resemblance from Chevy Aveo 2011 unveiled in Moscow Auto Show which looked like a sedan version of Chevrolet Beat in Indian market.
