Ford Figo Petrol-AT vs Rivals: What Do The Prices Say?
How does the reintroduced Figo automatic fare against its rivals?
The Ford Figo lost its automatic option with the axing of the 1.5-litre petrol engine. It has finally been reintroduced in the form of the segment-first 6-speed automatic transmission with its 1.2-litre petrol engine that makes 96PS and 119Nm. It’s, however, limited to the Titanium and Titanium+ variants. Let’s see how its prices compare against the petrol-automatic variants of its rivals:

The Figo is the only one here to offer a torque converter automatic for a more refined experience; the others use an AMT. That could be the reason the entry-level Figo petrol-automatic is the most expensive offering here.

The Hyundai Grand i10 Nios has the most affordable petrol-automatic variant, Rs 1.13 lakh less than the entry-level Figo petrol-auto. It offers a 5-speed AMT with its 1.2-litre petrol engine that makes 83PS and 114Nm.

The Maruti Swift’s petrol-AMT variants are more affordable in the entry- and mid-level trims but its top-spec model is pricier than the Figo Titanium+ petrol-AT by Rs 22,000. It uses the DualJet 1.2-litre petrol engine that makes 90PS and 113Nm.

The Renault Triber sub-4m MPV crossover takes on these hatchbacks in its price range. Its petrol-AMT option is priced similar to the Grand i10 Nios. It’s the least powerful offering here, with its 1.0-litre petrol engine making 72PS and 96Nm.

While the Figo may seem slightly dated in comparison to the Grand i10 Nios and Swift, it is a well-equipped hatchback. The entry-level petrol-AT Figo Titanium gets a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system (without Android Auto or Apple CarPlay), segment-first connected tech for telematics and remote engine start/stop as well as safety tech such as traction control, hill assist, and electronic stability control.

The top-spec Figo also gets class-leading six airbags, auto headlamps, rain-sensing wipers, front fog lamps, rear washer and wiper, and auto AC.

The Figo was given a facelift in 2018 and it’s due another significant update in the coming years. However, it wouldn’t be the only hatchback in India with a strong fan base for its driving characteristics (like the Polo) that has survived despite the competition getting big updates. If you don’t mind a manual transmission, the Figo is also available with a 1.5-litre diesel engine that makes 100PS and 215Nm. It’s priced from Rs 7.92 lakh for the Titanium variant.
