It is Ford’s answer to the Toyota Fortuner’s TRD Limited Edition

  • The Endeavour was spotted with a ‘Sport’ badge on the boot lid.

  • Ford already sells the Sport variants in international markets including Australia.

  • Cosmetic tweaks such as blacked-out mirrors, wheels and front mesh grille along with all-black interior on the cards.

  • Should be powered by the same 2.0-litre turbo-diesel engine as the regular model.

  • Expected to be priced similarly or at a slight premium over the top-spec Titanium+ 4x4 AT variant (Rs 34.45 lakh ex-showroom).

Ford sells the Endeavour as the Everest in foreign markets including Australia where it introduced a ‘Sport’ variant of the SUV in late-2019. This particular variant has now been spied in India, suggesting a probable launch soon.

The spied model is seen with the ‘Sport’ badge on the boot lid and a ‘Sport’ vinyl at the bottom of the rear doors. Although there’s no spy shot of the front end, it could feature blacked-out elements in the honeycomb-pattern front grille, lower half of the bumper, and outside rearview mirror housings along with blacked-out alloy wheels as seen on the Australia-spec model. The spied model is also seen with what appears to be a thick black strip (instead of chrome finish) connecting the tail lamps of the SUV.

The Sport variant’s cabin could get a few cosmetic updates such as an all-black theme to differentiate itself from the standard model. Apart from that, its equipment list is likely to remain the same with features such as dual-zone climate control, powered front seats, and of course, the panoramic sunroof.

Ford is expected to offer the Sport variant with the regular model’s 2.0-litre EcoBlue turbo-diesel engine that puts out 170PS and 420Nm. This engine is paired to an India-first 10-speed automatic gearbox. The Sport variant could come with both 2WD and 4WD drivetrains but the one spied seems to be a 2WD model as it does not have the 4WD badge at the rear.

If launched, the Sport variant will rival the Toyota Fortuner TRD Limited Edition. It could be priced similarly or at a slight premium over the top-spec Titanium+ 4x4 AT variant (Rs 34.45 lakh ex-showroom). The standard Endeavour is priced between Rs 29.99 lakh and Rs 34.45 lakh (ex-showroom). In other news, Ford is also working on the new-gen Endeavour that could be launched in India by 2022.
