There was a lot to choose from as the big brands went all guns blazing this year, launching the absolute best from their global line-ups. For instance, Mercedes-Benz launched brought as many as 13 new offerings to the table. BMW added petrol power to their its line-up, with the introduction of the petrol variants of the 3 Series, 5 Series, X3 and the X5. Jaguar took the wraps off their its first SUV -– the F-Pace – and introduced the most affordable kitty to wear the Leaping Cat badge: - the XE. Audi debuted the all-new A4, whereas Volvo took the wraps off their its flagship sedan -– the S90.

5. Audi Q7

Surprise surprise! Audi's flagship SUV overtook its younger brethren such as the Q3 and the Q5 to be the most searched Audi SUV on CarDekho. Clocking in close to 3 lakh clicks, the Q7 was sought out more often than equivalent luxury sedans at that price point. Guess India's love for SUVs isn't limited by price!

4. Mercedes-Benz A-Class

The most affordable offering from the house of the Three-Pointed Star, the A-Class, got 3.1 lakh hits, giving it the fourth spot on our list. That figure is around 16 per cent more than the next Mercedes-Benz, which happens to be the C-Class. Notably, it is the only luxury hatchback on the list, surpassing the likes of the BMW 1 Series, Volvo V40 and the Mini Cooper.

3. BMW X1

The roundel has its own charm after all. We got 3.2 lakh hits for the X1, which is the most affordable BMW SUV on sale. The X1 was also the most searched entry-level luxury SUV, beating the Mercedes-Benz GLA and the Audi Q3. The second generation of the baby SUV was launched earlier this year, with updated (read: butch) styling and an aggressive price tag that saw it get many takers.

2. BMW 3 Series

BMW updated the 3 Series in January 2016, and it has got 3.3 lakh page views on CarDekho since. The facelift version incorporated subtle visual tweaks and an updated powertrain, which has reflected well in BMW's account books as well. The punchy motor, nimble handling and relatively low sticker price make the 3 Series quite a crowd favourite!
