Tata Harrier EV expert overview
Overview
The 2025 Tata Harrier EV is the carmaker’s flagship electric vehicle that comes with a striking design and an upmarket cabin. It also gets some tweaks over the regular Harrier like a more sophisticated multi-link rear suspension and all-wheel drive.
Exterior
-
The Tata Harrier EV is based on the Harrier, which is already a striking looking SUV. However, it gets some EV-specific design tweaks.
-
The fascia now boasts a blanked-off grille and a tweaked bumper with vertical chrome slats. It still retains the full-width LED DRLs and vertically-stacked LED headlights.
-
It rolls on 20-inch alloy wheels, which get aero covers for better aerodynamic efficiency. Keen eyed viewers will notice the presence of an “.ev” badge on the front doors.
-
The 2025 Tata Harrier EV retains the chic-looking connected LED tail lamps, giving it a modern look. The rear bumper has been tweaked and features vertical slats on the skid plate.
-
Tata offers the 2025 Harrier EV in 5 colour options: Nainital Nocturne, Empowered Oxide, Pure Grey, Pristine White and Stealth Black.
Interior
-
The dashboard layout of the 2025 Tata Harrier EV is the same as the regular Harrier. It isn't a bad thing as it looks modern and upmarket.
-
To set it apart from the standard Harrier, the EV gets a dark grey and white theme, giving it a premium and airy feel.
-
It continues with the typical Tata design touches such as the four-spoke steering wheel with the illuminated logo, a touch-based climate control panel and a floating touchscreen infotainment system.
-
Based on the standard Tata Harrier, we expect the Tata Harrier EV to be a spacious offering, where it can accommodate tall occupants with ease at the front and rear.
Features
-
The Tata Harrier EV gets a larger 14.5-inch touchscreen infotainment system, which gets a Samsung QLED display. For reference, the standard Tata Harrier gets a 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment.
-
Other notable features on the Tata Harrier EV include a 10.25-inch digital driver’s display, dual-zone climate control, a 10-speaker JBL sound system with Dolby Atmos, powered front seats with ventilation, Boss mode, a panoramic sunroof, a wireless phone charger and multi-colour ambient lighting.
-
The Harrier EV also gets a summon mode, where you can move it forwards or backwards using the keyfob. It also comes with vehicle to load (V2L) and vehicle to vehicle (V2V).
Safety
-
The 2025 Tata Harrier EV has all the safety features from the ICE model such as 7 airbags, electronic stability control, a 360-degree camera, front and rear parking sensors and a tyre pressure monitoring system.
-
It also features level-2 advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) with features such as lane keeping assist, adaptive cruise control and forward collision avoidance.
-
In addition to that, the Tata Harrier EV comes with auto park assist.
-
The Tata Harrier is yet to be crash tested by Bharat NCAP. However, considering that the standard Harrier has secured a 5-star safety rating from both Bharat and Global NCAP, our expectations are high with the Harrier EV.
Boot Space
-
The Tata Harrier EV has a 502-litre boot, which is a tad larger than the standard Harrier.
-
Based on our experience with the standard Harrier, it can accommodate a large, medium and cabin-sized trolley; two soft bags and some space for small items.
-
In addition to that, the 2025 Tata Harrier EV has a frunk, which is perfect for storing small items like charging cables.
Performance
-
The 2025 Tata Harrier is being offered with two powertrain options, specifications of which have been mentioned below in the table:
Parameters | Tata Harrier EV RWD | Tata Harrier EV AWD |
Power (PS) | 238 PS | 394 PS |
Torque (Nm) | Up to 504 Nm | |
Number Of Electric Motors | 1 (RWD) | 2 (AWD) |
Battery Pack | 65 kWh | 75 kWh |
MIDC-claimed Range (P1 + P2) | Up to 627 km |
-
The Tata Harrier EV’s dual-motor setup currently makes it the most powerful Tata on sale.
-
Considering the on-paper power figures, we expect the Tata Harrier EV to offer brisk performance. The AWD version does 0-100 kmph in 6.3 seconds using Boost mode.
-
To aid off-roading, the Harrier EV gets some bespoke modes such as rock crawl, off-road assist and boost mode.
-
It gets six terrain modes: normal, mud ruts, rock crawl, sand, snow/grass and custom.
-
The 360-degree camera has a new Transparent mode, where it displays the feed under the vehicle to help you navigate tough sections with a bit more ease.
-
The Tata Harrier EV’s battery pack supports fast charging with speeds up to 120 kW. It can be juiced up from 20 to 80 percent in 25 minutes.
-
The rear suspension of the Tata Harrier EV has been updated to a multi-link setup, which is expected to boast better ride and handling.
Variants
-
The Tata Harrier EV is offered in three broad variants: Adventure, Fearless and Empowered.
-
Prices of the Tata Harrier EV start from Rs 21.49 lakh (introductory ex-showroom).
Pros & Cons of Tata Harrier EV
Things We Like
- Great road presence and pleasing design as the ICE variant
- Classy interior design that’s feature loaded and well built
- Comprehensive safety along with ABS, 6-airbags and 360 degree camera
Things We Don't Like
- Like other adapted EVs we expect there to be a light loss of rear seat comfort and boot space on account of the batteries being added to the floor
